i would want to use a 150 watt bulb

i dont want to buy things that aren't compatible

Technically speaking it should work most 175w ballast will run a 150w bulb. But i'm not sure about recommending it then you get into a whole other park about overdriving, burning to brightly, the bulbs lasting half as long.

+1 on the bulb life. Why not just spend the extra $30 and get the icecap 150W hqi electronic ballast to match your bulb?
