Hey Maast folks,

I am currently up in New Jersey for training for work and today I went up to NYC to spend the day taking in the sights of the big city, and I visited Manhattan Aquariums aka Uniquecorals.com because I had heard they had exceptional stuff, I was not to be disappointed!!!!

The place was amazing with tons of incredible livestock and the most current, EXPENSIVE technology available on the market! Unfortunately, I wasnt able to purchase anything since I will be up here for another week, but I wanted to share some pictures.

Enjoy! Michael

I apologize for pic quality, but all I had was my iPhone!

I love uniquecorals.com... I just did my first order from them a few weeks ago. They definitely give generously and have GREAT corals.

Grade A+++ company.

We're really lucky down here to be getting some pretty nice stuff locally for very reasonable.

It is nice to get stuff locally, but the selection is multiplied by a MILLION internationally! :D

I got a Game Over Acan frag from Unique... love it!

Oh absolutely. I'd look. I might even buy if it was outstanding. I was just saying that sometimes I see something online and think 'wow. gotta have that!" just to see something just as fantastic locally for a way better price.

Awesome shop!!! We ought to have a forum under traveling LFS or maybe NLFS (non local). I really love that long frag tank.

I'm going to Huntington beach CA on Monday and plan on visiting a lfs place or two while there.

Wholesaler type turnover, with outrageously high prices? I think I'll stick with Gabe and Jeremy ;)

Lovely setups -- but 80 bucks for green Seratioporas? :)

well i guess i was in shock and neglected to acknowledge your gracious efforts to share in your experiences. so sorry and
Thanks! i really think that those setups are really cool and we don't have anything that i know of locally that compares.
we do have some VERY nice corals and fish that come into the local south Texas markets and we are lucky to have such great Maast sponsors that offer such great discounts and services.

:Timeout: but wow those prices are high!

This seems to me, to be, an educational thread. I moved it to the general forum.

Hi Michael!
Where in Jersey are you? If you're in central area, you should check out Jenkinson's Aquarium in Point Pleasant. I was offered a job there, so I'll be moving back out to Jersey in a few days. If you really get a chance though, you should visit the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. It's out by Philly. They have a great hammerhead and two tiger sharks on display there. One of only two aquariums in the US to have them. Plus shark rays which are also pretty rare. Both aquariums need some help on their live coral displays though. haha. Either way, if you shoot me a message about where you are and where you want to go, I can get you directions.

Last summer I went up north (not northeast) and was shocked to see how much the price of sw fish and corals went up, like twice as much or more!

Can you guys imagine the overhead in a place like that operating up there?!? It's no wonder why its so insanely priced.

I was referring to states directly above Texas, including Iowa, where the overhead is less than NY-it's just the relative market up there for SW.
