How long has your tank been up and running and what are your current water parameters? From the looks of your pictures you have a small outbreak of cyanobacteria (red slime), which depending on how old your tank is, is fairly common. Is the tank near any windows? If you are not keeping your lights on too long and its not by a window then you may not have enough flow in the tank adding a powerhead or redirecting the return line might help.

If the tank has been running for a while and you are still getting cyano blooms you have extra nutrients from somewhere and I doubt it is overfeeding since it looks like no fish are in the tank? I would suggest getting RO/DI water from your LFS instead of HEB water. Though they are filtered they usually still contain phosphates etc. which feed your cyano. I also second Squiers comment to increase flow.

I started to have the same problem with my bc14, I added a koralia nano and that fixed the problem. So I agree with both water and flow.

I am thinking it is a relatively new tank, if my memory serves me correctly. It happens and should go away in time, but all the above reasons cause cyano.

Also an 8g tank is harder than a bigger tank! I think your solution is to upgrade! :D
Just kiddin....
Elevated TDS in your water can contribute to cyano as well as low flow areas. Are you rinsing your food before you feed? That helps bigtime.
Keep a 5g bucket of SW going with an airstone in it. Use it for daily water changes of about 2g. Keep doing that until it subsides. You may want to invest in a handheld TDS meter, which any of the other sponsors probably sell.
Hope that helps you!

I get a little cyano mat on the sand bed and I just pick the whole piece off and drop it in a net and remove it.
Not sure it that's how it's supposed to be done but it's just so convenient that way and seems more thorough than just blowing it to pieces that will just float and settle all over!

a koralia nano or koralia 1. The nano would probably work well for you.
