spin off from saabtech's thread:
what tank do you have and what tank would you rather have ;)

I have a 125g with the dimensions: 72" x 18" x 24" (l x d x h)

I'd rather have a 150g with the dimensions: 60" x 24" x 25", preferably brick without the center brace! :) Or a 190g 60" x 24" x 31"

I had a 125 and love my 150, except the center brace. If I went bigger I'd probably go with 6' long tank over a deeper tank. I loved the length of the 125 I had and really missed the extra foot when I converted.

Overall though I can't complain  It's full and I still find room for just one more coral.

Very happy with my 160g. shallow cube dimension 48x48x16, but don't mind to have a 72x36x22.

54 x 24 x 22. it is tooooo tall. but all that depth and height gives some great aquascapeing results.

I'm happy with the tank's dimensions, just not my own. =|

90g - 48x18x24.

The stand, tank, and canopy come to 67 inches. I'm 61 inches. I have to use a step stool just to feed. The tank is 24 inches deep, and my reach is just barely 24 inches... I practically have to get in to clean towards the back.

I have a 24 x 24 x 24.

And although I love the space it gives me I feel it is too tall as well. I wouldn't mind a more shallow tank.

Ours is 7' x 2' x 2' and I agree that 24" tall can be problematic at times. I would NEVER consider a tank taller than that and I kinda miss the 18" tall tank we used to have when I'm in up to my armpits.

The dimensions of our tank I'm fairly happy with... but the center brace drives me insane. I would definitely consider going with something else to get Euro-bracing.

(Yes, I realize that I'm totally giving Bill an invitation here! :) )

What is Euro-bracing?

ErikH

euro bracing is bracing that follows the edge of the tank. An inner tank lip, at the top, extending 2"-3" inwards. My 110 has that, but my 75 is a brick, which means no bracing at all.

150 72x18x28 would rather have 72x24x17

I have mentioned it to my wife to my surprise she actually said go for it. WHOO HOO when I told her the new stand would be 6 inches further into the living room, POP goes my bubble, she put the brakes on it. :( ,no big deal I would be happy if i found a way to get rid of my aptasia

I would like a 20" tall tank that is much longer. Once I buy my house I will start putting my plan into motion but since Im renting now I cant do what I want to.

what tank do you have and what tank would you rather have ;)

I have an Oceanic Half Circle 144g....
57.5 x 29 x 29

I would rather have....
A much larger custom half circle or an L-shaped tank....300g + and I am one of the few that prefer deeper and higher tanks....despite the complications of lighting and getting in and out of it. It's worth the trade off for me.

The one thing I don't like about my current tank is that it's only 57.5" in length and I want something much longer for larger tangs and fish. I also want another foot in depth and height. I don't really care about "FULL light" all the way to the back and bottom/sides...because I prefer the look of "depth" and would keep low light corals in those areas.

Anyways....now I'm all excited and want to keep visioning my perfect tank...thx.

60"X30"X26" tall rimless- what more would one need?

My tank is a perfecto 180g. 6' x 2' x 2'. I just have two complaints. One is that it has 2 plastic braces across the top. It is only noticeable withe the lunar lights on. The other is that the built in overflows take up a lot of space and they already had anti-siphon holes drilled in. Which they put way too low and facing the current so I have some salt spray.

Mine's 60 x 20 x 29, which is WAY too tall. I can't reach the closed loop intake in the center toward the back without literally sticking my shoulders in the tank. I can just barely reach the sandbed right along the front glass, which is why my most-used piece of maintenance equipment is my tongs. ;) I'd rather have 72 x 24 x 20 for extra room front-to-back and not so much height.

My favorite tank dems were on a tank I no longer have

125g 72x24x17. The 17" height was perfect

My current 180g 72x24x24 is very similar to Kristy and Mikes tank and the only problem I see with it is the big glass center bracing. This tank will not be a reef so it may not bother me to much once setup.

My ideal dream tank would be a 310g 84x36x24 or a large complete cylinder 48" diameter 24"Tall

I have a 55 and I want to get a 75 gallon standard dimensions. The 55 is deceiving, looks like there is all this space but just add a few small rocks and now I have no room and sometimes evening getting the space to pull my magnetic window cleaner around the tank can be a challenge.

Like me, you may be unhappy with your tank dimensions, but first you have to be unhappy with your room dimensions. :lauging:

My 144 have circle would be perfect if my arms were longer :(
