I'm in the process of fine tuning my ghl reef doser and I made a mistake. Right now my calcium is at 465, alk is 1.75 meq/l, and magnesium is 1037 ppm. I had the calcium and alk dosing at the same rate 80ml per day, but when I checked today they were out of alignment. I think I started dosing when the tank was not balanced. That might be why I'm having problems now. Am I correct in thinking if I allow the Ca to drop the Alk will rise? I went ahead and lowered the Ca to 60ml per day. The Alk is the same. I also raised the Magnesium slightly.

I would first work on getting the magnesium up to 1300-1350 over the next 3-4 days since that will make it easier to balance your Calcium and Alk.

After that you can test and adjust. This article is an excellent reference, you're currently in zone 4. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/nov2002/chem.htm
