I have been using the Barracuda pump for over three years now and it finally start to have problem. I turn off the pump to do some maint and when time to restart the pump the pump just hum and does not pump. The problem is not some thing is stuck in the pump or the machanical of the motor is broken. It is the capacitor that give the pump a extra voltage boost for startup if worn out. At this point you need to give the pump an extra help by turning the motor shaft and the pump will start to pump. You need to order the new capacitor and replace it. It is very easy to install. Just remove the screw and remove the capacitor cover on the pump and then install the cap.
One thing is that I am having problem with is to find the cap with the same shape to fit under the motor cap cover. I am emailling the manufacture for their replacement part.
In the mean time I am using a replacement, but it does not fit under the cover. Make sure to seal the contact so that no salt or water get to it.
