Here is my question two posts have been locked in the last couple hours one for mentioning raffel an one for offering donations. Now my question is this who is the lawyer that locked them for the violation of the NP status. Were are not asking for a Maast sponsored event to take place for this to happen. We are talking about a get together of friends to have fun an hangout.

So if anyone here also has raffel tickets that there kids may sell for
a fundraiser that can not be done either. Yes I'm stirring the pot some but I think these are legitimate questions. I understand you are trying for the NP status an only allowed 2 raffels a year which great but in same turn no one from BOD has said it would be a Maast event

Thank you for your time

Carl.

carl, thank you for your concern. the thread was not locked by a lawyer. actually, none of us are lawyers or CPAs and that is exactly why the thread was closed for now. it was a concern that it could conflict with our two raffle maximum as part of not for profit status. to be on the safe side, it was locked until we can be certain that it will not be an issue. we will check with the CPA so we can give you a correct answer to your questions.

thank you ace. that is the answer i was looking for. It would have been nice to for the lockers to say THIS MAY be a conflict and we need to check on this not just close the thread. there could have been a Please wait while we check this out so please not talk about it now. that is my only problem.

thank you ace for the answer i was looking for its appreciated.

I think I can see both sides and feel kind of sorry for the mods. They are donating their time to keep an eye on the board with the intent of protecting MAAST's interests.

I assume they have other things going on during the day than to issue warnings and continuously monitor threads so in cases where something may impact MAAST it may just be easier and safer to temporarily lock it, get the info and then decide afterward rather than chance it and lose some of MAAST's privileges.

After all they didn't delete it (permanent), they locked it (temporary until the issue can be sorted out)

Having volunteered for a bunch of different things myself I would think it would make me pretty grumpy if I gave my time to an organization and then be frequently micromanaged in my duties or criticized for trying to do help achieve the organization's goals.

Point noted.

Doing the best I can with what I was given. Moderating is a HARD job.

I spoke with the CPA today. She confirmed that we can not allow raffles within our forum other than our two allowed organization raffles. Therefore, we will be adding that restriction to our Terms of Use and our rules for the Sale/Trade forums.

i did not ask about that specifically, but the CPA made it pretty clear that we should not have any raffles on the site except the two we claim per year.

My take on this is if a sponsor has a raffle at his store then that is his business. We have no right to stop that.
We do have the right to restrict that sponsors ability to advertise for that raffle here on MAAST.

I'm not a CPA so take it for what it's worth.
