I am used to dealing with low Ph. I have a tank that has been idle awhile. That is, it has had some hermits and a few rocks in it. I have to replace the lighting for it. I was checking the chemicals to get it ready for critters. The Ph tested at 8.8. Is that too bad? Other than a water change, what can I do about it?

Thanks for the help.:at_wits_end:

Typically a water change won't affect PH.

I'd make SURE you have a pH problem first. Take a sample to a LFS - with no air in the ziplock.

Yep, test kit sounds suspect to me, it should be acidic if anything.
