ok, i got this as a hitchhiker on another coral and cant figure out what it is. it looks like a tiny polyp sun coral with long clear tentacles. i was thinking olanidae on the family, but couldnt find anything.
this whole colony is about half the size of a golf ball

I doubt corynactis or pseudocorynactis -- too colonial, and appears to have a rigid structure... if they're soft though, it could be..
Definitely not rhizo tho :)

I was thinking Phyllangia too but it's probably too small. Maybe a species of Oculina like Oculina diffusa. I had stuff like it come in on Florida aquacultured live rock. It didn't stay alive long for me. Probably azooxanthellate.
Or maybe Cladocora arbuscula.

Jack, the Florida liverock is where I had gotten stuff like that as well hence Phyllangia was my first guess.
Maybe it would help to narrow it down if we knew where Ace's coral was collected?

yea...i collected a rock of the coast of Florida which had what looked exactly like this except bleach white in color....anways...i put it in my 3 gal deco and a few days later its polyps came out...pretty neat...imma tag along see if anyone can id this....

yep, it was on the bottom of a carribean sponge - i think you are right with cladocora. thanks!
