Well, I got bored and made a little frag rack....it was the only way I could think to get the frags off the sand and closer to light:
Thought I would start making some frags to participate in the March frag swap.

Karin....you will be happy to see I'm using 14k bulbs now (notice the picture isn't SUPER DUPER blue)... boooh hoooo...I miss the blue from my 20k bulbs....Jack and I recently purchased some 14k bulbs to get better growth.
I do have another blue LED linking module (PowerBrite) that should be here in the next few days but I don't think it will make much of a difference.

do 14k really give better growth? I have been doing a lot of reports for my marine ecology and pro skills classes lately and one of the journals I stubled upon was "Evaluation of artificial light regimes and substrate types for aquaria propagation..". The experiment used 5kk, 10k, 14k and 20k bulbs and the 20k bulbs had significantly more growth over a 3 month period than any of the others, also had better surival rates at 87% while using hundreds of frags.
Anywho neat fragrack! :)

Thanks, Jarob. Well, my corals seem to be much happier under the 14k. I ran 10k for a couple of weeks as well and they seemed even happier under that but..10k is no option for me.
Perhaps the mortality was less under 20k bulbs because the other bulbs were bleaching corals out because they were not properly acclimated to the light.
My 20k bulbs just aren't intense enough to get to the bottom of my 29" deep tank where my clams are at.

I can already see more growth from the 14K's over the 20K's
