Does any one know where to get some dry live rock or dry base rock? Im pretty much looking for dry rocks with holes that looks like live rock.

BulkReefSupply.com and MarcoRocks.com both have great deals on dried oceanic rock (Its no longer live once its dry -- it will become live after seeding though.)
I just ordered 40 lbs from MarcoRocks this last weekend -- will be posting pics of how much rock this actually is once I receive it :)

If you add the dry to an existing tank, will it cause it to cycle?

I wouldnt say cycle... more like seed. The other live rock inside the tank will begin to seed the dry rock then it will become alive.

What about locally(san antonio)? I hope a local material company might carry something similar to what they have for sale on macrorocks.com.
Tomorrow im going to call around to some material suppliers and see if they carry anything similiar. If i find something, I will make sure to tell everyone.

My tank is 90% Marcorock and I loved the rock I got from them. I ordered way too much because the rock I got is so lightweight, very porous -just what I wanted.
I got the signature Fiji (link) (http://www.marcorocks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=40).
Here's my tank thread (link) (http://maast.org/forums/showthread.php?t=56597&highlight=evolution)
IMO there is nothing that comes close to the signature fiji. I can honestly say I've never seen rock in other people's tanks that I liked better than mine.

Likely find Texas holey rock, it will work but will never look quite right. Plus I have read it tends to leach a lot of iron

I went with the Key Largo rock -- the structure (and price! :)) were appealing, and worked with my plans.. 40 lbs is quite a bit dry!

If I weren't planning on doing large bommies in the corners with a canyon between, I would have likely gone with the signature fiji -- much more showy pieces in there.. I wanted more of a rubbled pile look, so this works well :)

Im going to Dallas Saturday to pick up 150lbs of dry rock from a reefer there. Macro would have been my next choice, but I figured for the price im paying its well worth the trip plus im seeing family so... Also shipping can be a little pricey.
