Well, after 6 weeks or so of trepidation (I've had all the supplies to drill my tank for that long and was too chicken to actually do the deed) I finally got up the nerve to drill my tank and it couldn't have gone better. I drilled two holes for 1.5" drains and one hole for a 3/4" return. I had heard that the bits from glass-holes.com will chip out the the glass when you punch through so I drilled from the inside out and had no problems. So far everything is nice and quiet so hopefully it will stay that way.

That's what i should have done(or had done)
i bought a good overflow kit and accessories, and it works fine, but load as hell!!!!!
Aaaargh with the noise.
What kind of tubing did you use for the drain lines?

Yeah it was like the first time i drilled a tank I didnt want to do it incase i messed it up. But once i did i have no fear now. I drilled from the outside of my current setup you just have to make sure on that last little bit of glass you dont put alot of pressure.

1.5" tubing is so rigid that I was afraid that I couldn't make the bends that I needed so I plumbed in pvc for the drains. I didn't post pics yet since the water is a little cloudy from the tear down and reassembly. I'll snap a pic this afternoon and post. I spent about $100 total for bits, bulk heads, pvc, ect. It would have cost me $90 just to have the holes drilled at a lfs so I saved a little cash.
