I love mine. Great coloring and very active. Gets along with my coral nipping flame tail blenny.

Had one once, it was one of my favorite fish. Always fun to try to find out what live rock hole he had his head sticking out of. Mine wasn't very shy, swam out in the open a lot, especially at feeding time.

Very cool fish --Probably my favorite blenny.
My understand is having them swim out in the open is a pretty common experience. In the wild they swim in the middle of schools of golden anthias to protect them selves from predators.

so these are not part of the poison fang blenny group?

Poison fang? These guys will hide for days so I don't think that would matter. It takes a docile tank for them to be out and about. Otherwise they just watch life swim by from their holes. :) That is probably because in an aquarium, most people do not have schools of anything. You have to remember that often in an aquarium usually people do not mimic nature anywhere near like how it is.

Nope, they are a combtooth ecenius. The canary blenny is a fangtype and looks a lot like the Midas. May be what you're thinking of.

yes, yes. that's the yellow blenny I was thinking off and the poison fang thing turned me off (my little fish are quite sensitive to being threatened with scalpels, poison fangs, etc. so I ruled it out for my tank. might give the midas another look :) )

I was watching the Midas Blenny on youtube. That is a beautiful fish. Wonderful movement. Anybody know how they do with clams?

Sorry, but coolest fish ever is the orange spot filefish *unfortunatly a very hard to impossible fish to keep in an aquarium.
Still, thats a pretty darn cool fish.

Here's a pic of mine. I've had him for over a year. 100 % reef safe and loves the camera. He actually loves to pose! My favorite fish for sure. He has a home in a rock with a large hole in the middle. He is out all the time!

Shagman (always makes me think you sell carpet ...lol)
the Midas blenny does not eat algae. it eats zooplankton in the wild (hence it's more in the water column, etc.
Sounds like a Midas Blenny might be the last fish for my tank ;)

I got one :)
It's super cute. Love the big blue eyes peaking out of his rock!
I thought it would be yellow but only the tail and the side stripe are yellow. Amazing how that critter is so long with a long tail and still manages to back into holes tail first so fast!
Thanks for the recommendation. I think this one will be a really sweet addition to my tank.

I am so glad you got one. They are very personable. When I have my nose to the glass the blenny will come up eye to eye. Very cool. My yellow tang will go wherever I put my finger against the glass. She will get into staring contests with me, and let's me pet her when I scrape the glass.

Thanks again for posting about this fish. This is the most adorable fish I've ever seen! Just gorgeous, personable and reef safe (unlike some blennies). Really a wonderful fish.
