Hi all. I am about to redo all my rock work and I need some help with some pieces that tend to want to come crashing down. I am trying to create more verticle type structures for better circulation....so I have a few questions:

1)Has anybody purchased that drill-epoxy kit available for stacking LR?
2)Is it worth the money?
3)Has anyone had luck with an other epoxy, other strategy?

looks cheap enough. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Other than of course the whole thing falling over locked together

I have good anchor pieces but I have about 10 med pieces that need stablizing. I've always kept the rock work flexible (5yrs) but its time to commit:bigsmile:

As far as fair pricing, a rock bit cant cost more than $10 at lowes and I hear people use rigid tubing in place the the pegs shown above. I dont know which epoxy really does, what the lable says it does, though :S

Ive been using clear silicone to glue rock together. Pvc and plastic ties are also useful. I expect three little fishes epoxy would also work well as it sets up quicker than silicone but could get a little pricey in comparison.

Look at that link, tell me those little rods are the same size.... I think they look like parts to a hangar.

Use a drill bit, some plastic hangars, and some putty in the holes where it is overly shaky.

Also, remember, don't get too crazy or it looks unnatural. :D

d'oh, sorry i forgot to reply to your pm.

i have never used the drill and rod method, i just always stack the rocks balancing them as well as possible and then i use superglue to shore it up. i also glue in small shim rocks in areas where two rocks meet to strengthen more.

I use acrylic rod and a drill bit to stack up my rocks. On my 90 I was able to use the Great Stuff Foam to fill in where the rocks met after drilling and pegging with the rod, I also threw on some crushed coral and sand to help the foam blend in. On my Finnex at work I used just the acrylic rod and the 2littleFishied putty - I don't like the 2 part putty. I was under the impression that it would stick rocks together - I either did it wrong or it ain't working. The putty did dry and seems somewhat useful in shoring up the rock pieces together. You can look in the nano section under my thread for the Finnex and see my rockscape using this technique.
