Some of you may have thumbed through my thread last night in search of the Eleanor of all shrimp. Well it turned out to be a Saron Rectirostris. I know nothing about these shrimp other than a very vague "Nocturnal, eat coral" summary. Anyone with experience keepin a Saron sp. and or have pics? Please post them here!

Sounds like a winner. You never get to see it AND it eats your corals. lol
If that's what you want you could just save your money, I'll drop by before you go to bed and you can unload your corals on me. In the morning when you wake up: no corals and no shrimp. :)

Good Luck :)

rectirostris is a cool shrimp - only remember getting one once at the store. came in as "buffalo shrimp". I took him home and thats the last time i saw him.

i showed my gf the pic and she yelled "my shrimp!!!!" and i told her it had to be the saron shrimp but they say it eats coral and she kept saying well mine didn't ...

if we looked really hard we could find him but one time i remember not seeing for a very long time and when he popped out he was huge ( i think he was molting or something)

Hey Karinegative, tell me how you really feel :p haha jk.

It would be going in my 14 gallon that I am setting up today so hiding would be minimal. I have read that they accept meaty foods so I am sure he would come out during feeding. As far as coral munching, It is also suggested that they be kept in larger reefs where damage could go unnoticed. This tank will be used to house the not so exotics aka junk corals or serve as a frag tank for BTA's (still undecided). And besides that, he's freaking awesome looking. :) I haven't found a website selling the rectirostris and I've only seen it once in stores so I probably have a slim chance of finding it anytime soon..... bummer

TAHGAC, Do you remember a price tag by chance?

JT, That's crazy we were both trying to find the same shrimp lol.
