I got a rock with a bunch of little Rics on it. They're pretty and look healthy, I suppose, but they don't quite look like the wonderful pictures found elsewhere. They're small, so I wonder if it's just an age/size thing. I've had them a little over a week, could they still be adjusting?

I've never posted pics before, I'll give it a try, here goes...

Ric #1 looks the best. Notice the itty bitty baby ric next to it.

Ric #2 appears to have two mouths. splitting?

Ric #3 & #4 seem odd to me. Their polyps are elongated, and not as numerous. Is it a different type, or just 'young?' They're about the size of a penny and a dime. The rock is odd shaped, so they're also at a vertical slope, whereas the others are horizontal.

And for fun, some babies! They're crammed into a crevice in the rock, I was wondering if they'll stay there or scoot out. The one in the middle is about the size of a pencil eraser.

tebstan, they look good. I got a rock that looked just like that and within 4 months they grew huge and took over the entire rock.

To answer some of your ?'s - yes they will grow. Alot of the new polyps will start from pieces of the foot left behind as the larger ones move around. The little ones will grow bigger over time if they are cared for (water quality). They will also move to a spot that suits them. I have had my yuma rics multiply both ways - by splitting and also starting from pieces of the foot as the big one moves

All the little ones that are crowded around together, will they just pop off and let loose in the tank? <gasp> Or slowly crawl to safer terrain?

They might jump ship to find a new place, or like mine they just moved around slowly until they were happy. I have only had 2 out of 15 detach.
