New BTA

I just added a bubble tip anemone. I guess he's a little mad, he moved partially under a rock.

Will he come back out to find a comfortable location?

How much flow do they prefer?

I heard from a couple of different lfs that they will hide in a new tank and should come out and decide where they want to be in a week or two. But, ctcoral had a new BTA disapear and never came back out, he found him a week or two later, but not alive and creating quite a leaching problem. I would try to keep an eye on him.

I have a rose anemone hiding at the moment. If it stretches it would make it to the light but it hasnt done so yet. Mine is eating though so thats a plus. I would give it a week and see if it moves or anything.

they are very finicky, i had one that did great right off the back, but then hid for a week i turned the rock and it hid again, finally turned the rock again and did a large water change and now its been happy again only moved a couple inches out to spot with light flow, but now opening. i figured out why it got mad since i have a open top and my fuge area of my stand is also open i get alot of evap and i would wait too long to top off so the salinity swings where making it mad.

I have a rose BTA that is in heavy flow and indirect light but within reach of direct light. Top of the reef. very happy for the last 3 months.

I also have a Green BTA that has been happy for about 4 months and it went directly into hiding and hasn't come out since. It is in reach of indirect light and is low in the reef.

Pretty unpredictable little creatures to say the least.

Both did not stay where i put them. The RBTA also killed a large 7" monti cap and called it home.

Your anemone could be acclimating himself to the lighting or seeking refuge from the traumatic event. My BTA's usually hide for the first several days. When i buy an anemone, its coming from no light (shipping), low lighting (fish store's), to metal halides. It can be a big change for them.

What are your parameters? How long did you acclimate? They truly have a mind of their own and won't let you make up their mind for them.

My experience with them parrots those above. One in hiding and nearly white/pink while the other is away from the glass but under lights and next to moderate flow. I've another one that never looks happy and schooches around from day to day.
