This is step one of many to get my 45g tech up and running. I didn't like the stock standpipe at all, but there is not alot of room in the overflow box. No biggie with a little cutting(no flow restrictions) I now have a 1 1/4" compact durso standpipe with no clearance issues at all. The standpipe is 1 1/4" for the stock 1" bulkhead. Very easy mod, all I had to do was cut the T, and I cut down a street 90. Durso info can be found here. http://www.dursostandpipes.com/

That's a nice clean cut on the t and the street elbow. I cut mine down also, but they didn't look that nice.

Thanks, good old drimmel. I just got done testing it. After about 2 minutes playing with the vent hole size, its perfect. A thousand times better.

How quiet is it? What is the plumbing on the dry side of the 1" bulk head, also 1 1/4"? 1 1/4" should keep the noise down, great job!

You cant really hear anything. If you get close you can hear air through the vent hole. The under side is going to just have 2 45's on it.

NICE, did you end the drain on the under side just under the water level in the sump, above, or well below?

For my test I have the drain about 1" under the sump water level.
