So my question can you mix carpets with bubble tips? What about other breeds?

I had a BTA in the same tank (30 gal) as a LTA. The BTA killed the LTA. I have seen multiple (species-wise) anemone tanks. I think space is important, and keeping them happy so they don't move near one of the other species.

+1 you can mix anemones as long as they don't get mad and move and sting each other to death. I have seen gaint carpets with BTAs in the same tank. I guess the key is space. ALso in an article in Saltwater aquriums they had two different anemones in a take and basically wrote spacing so they don't come into contact with each other when the tenticles are streched out. So in short i guess yes with CAUTION

It can be done, if you have a large tank and you run carbon in your aquarium system. It is not recommend though, anemones do so much better with their own species. Mixing anemone species tends to stunt their growth and make them move more. Some people get lucky and others end up with one or more dead anemones.

Use carbon and keep them seperated. I have alot of btas but like above added a H. malu and lost the H. malu pretty quick.

I got S. gigantea with E. quadricolor and two S. tapetum (maxi) and countless S. tapetum (mini) in my 58 g tank. None of the anemone touch each other and they all doing well. Before I have the S. gigantea (4 months) I have a H. magnifica in it's place. I switch the Magnifica out to another tank and put the Gigantea in it's place because it is the best place I got for the Gigantea. I move the Magnifica to a smaller tank by itself. I don't run carbon.

The problem being if the anemones arent used to one another and chemical warfare starts I would rather be safe than sorry. My LTA and BTA battle was in a 65 gallon but I run a little carbon just in case this happens. I am not as worried now as all I have is E. Quadricolor.

Also note that the LTA and the BTA did touch each other while settling in and I believe that is what started the warfare.

I was going to try capets with bta. However after hearing your experiences I'm going to stick with just bta's in the 240gal. I don't want them to be stressed at all :)

might be a smart move, i have heard of carpets having chemical wars with other anemone species in aquaria. i have even heard that they will shed nematocysts(stinging cells) to attack anemones that they are not close to - dont know if that is true tho.
