I got the hole saws from glass-holes.com, they have a corny but easy to follow video that shows you how. I drilled a test hole when they came in and it was a snap. Try to ask around and see if anyone in your area could lend you one. I also drilled a test hole with a hole saw for tile that was diamond coated and it was exactly the same. Just use water and a piece of 1/2"-1" MDF that has the exact size hole cut out of it with a regular hole saw as teh template/guide.

I have bought bulkheads from marine depot in the past, they ship quick and seem to always have things in stock, but you can save money by going with bulkreefsupply.com (fyi the 1 1/2" double threaded schedule 80 bulkhead re-stock shippment is suppsoe to be here this week)

I bought mine from glass-holes.com. They are cheap and shipping is fast (and free). On bulkheads, the size listed is the inside diameter so the bit will have to be larger than what it is listed at. If you check glass-holes.com they will tell you what size bit you need for each bulkhead.

I am lazy and just use this link to marine depots sale page of the bulk heads. It tells you the size of hole required for the inside diameter of the bulk head.

Did you get sch 80 or poly bulkheads? How much did you give for them, if you don't mind sharing?

They are probably poly not sch 80. But if they are sch 80 then HOLY COW that's a great price!

why does it matter if the pvc for a bulkhead is SCH80? Just wonderin'.

just got the strainer bulkhead and hole saw in, now im just gonna hold off on drilling till i can find a suitable drill. mine works fine for screws and such but runs out of battery really really quick, also instead of starting another thread does anyone know were i can find cheap acrylic sheets to make the over flow? how hard is it to form into shape? i dont have a torch so that may be a problem

There are 3 or 4 places here in SA but I don't know of any in Eagle Pass.

You can bend the acrylic with a propane torch. They are cheap and most hardware stores have them. It takes a little practice.

I am guessing that you do understand the difference between sch 80 and 40, not just color. I've seen too many people with poly or sch 40 bulk heads have stripping internally, externally, or chase leaks?
