I am starting to become happy with the way it looks and the fish/corals in my tank and am getting to the point of just sitting back and enjoying it more than wanting to go buy more stuff. I know I wont stop buying things as there is always room for more but I'm happy where it sits now. Anyone else get this way?

I used to eagerly await the weekend to buy and buy. Now I may go a month or two without purchasing. I actually stay happier with what I have this way. I am able to focus on good husbandry vs. "is he eating/ healthy?!"

I'm a coral addict -- but I'm not at a point that I have the things I want yet for my mixed reef... so I still buy stuff :)

Once I am satisfied -- I'll probably find an excuse to put up another tank :D

BTW, its content, not contempt -- compleltely different implications:

Content: adj. -- Desiring no more than what one has; satisfied.

Contempt -- n. -- The feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn.

Good point. I have been bitten with quite a few different fish diseases over the last year. This even includes when I started qt as one time I didnt have formalin and the clowns had brook. Then had the battle with velvet. I dont want to take anymore chances even with my bigger qt setup. As now I know everyone is healthy and am now just waiting for my corals to grow out some. :)

I decided a while back to stop putting anything else in my tank and let it grow out for awhile. Some stuff has perished or or not done very well and some stuff has really grown out well. I now have some very huge colonies of corals and a giant anemone.

I'm satisfied with what I have now, but if I had to start over again it would look very different.

I'm perfectly happy with my rock scape...but,

I'm a big "flipper" with coral.

Once I'm happy I start flipping. Out with the old and in with the new. I'm also addicted to coral.

I tend to get overwhelmed when it gets full. I think I was actually more content with just a bunch of small frags.
When the tank is still half empty the possibilities still are endless. My mind fills in the gaps and it's perfect.
Once you put in more corals there's more of a commitment. You got what you got.

Reminds me of "opportunity cost' from Economics class. By deciding to make red widgets you forgo the opportunity to make green widgets...

The opportunities are much more limited now. The shortcomings of reality replace the (much more flawless) possibilities I had in my mind.

when you get bored, concentrate on your levels, ways of making things more efficient, etc. Change it up to keep from getting bored. I know you got some PVC somewhere that you want to mod! :)

Very content with the tanks, BUT...

We don't buy livestock NEAR like what we used to. It really has to be just the right thing (especially with fish!) For coral, we can go two or three months and buy nothing at all, then buy several items in the same weekend. But definitely more according to a plan or a vision of what we are looking for. I like to say that there is always more room for coral.

I have been changing my tank/tanks/Fish/corals for almost 20 years (I get bored). I just traded in my Clown trigger last week. And added more coral two weeks ago in another tank. I should be okay for a couple of weeks until I frag and move things around again?

I was content and wasn't adding anything to my tank. Then my SPS all started dying after I had a partial rockfall. :( Now I'm not happy with it at all. I'll be happy again once I get my downgrade complete and everything stable once more. :)

I answered no to buying more livestock, but now that I'm where I want to be with the tank it's time to start with the other things like phosban reactor (not homemade) and ATO to name a few.
