That's about average. You can find IO around $13 per bag.

buy I.O in 200 gallon boxes almost the same price as 160 gallon bucket but easier on the environment.

The best deals in salt are when you can find specials on shipping.

I just bought over 100 lbs of salt and for $5.99 shipping.

Dr F & S will ship an ENTIRE PALLET for $18. That's about 500 lbs of salt.

I was merely thinkin it was a good deal and thought I'd pass along the sale to other salty's who might want to catch it if it was a deal to them ( no offense)
not war about shipping and such just my two cents that aint worth squat

Don't let it bother you. I am sure everybody just wants to share how they save money.
You got what you wanted at a decent price. :)

Wasn't trying to one up you, everyone's always wanting a deal on salt. Thanks for posting it. Salt is a huge expense in this hobby.

Yea. Salt can be pricey. If it weren't for this thread I wouldn't of know I was getting hosed on salt prices. I looked at ebay and they've got some darn deals for bulk along with cheap shipping.

Actually, you got a pretty decent deal - especially for local purchases, as needed. I think the points were that there are deals, and then there are DEALS. Dr. F & S shipping 500 lbs for $18, AND buckets of IO for $30 with no tax (that's $32/bucket) is a DEAL.

I've talked to LFSs, and their cost is more than that...

Their online shipping has been 5.99 for your order for several months now. I bought the jbj 28 nano with stand and it shipped for 5.99.

Like Bill said when their salt is on sale you can't beat em for price.

yea but how long does that 5.99 shipping take to arrive, its cool if you plan ahead but most time we all wait till we run out till we buy it, gabe has offered really good price on it but just the everyday price for salt is good. also alot of the higher end salts gabe sells make more salt water than the other like reef crystals and instant ocean, for the same size bucket.

Dr. F & S shipping is 7 days/FEDEX. $5.99 I got my salt in 3 days, 4 for the rest of the order.

When I ordered through F&S they shipped it Fedex Smart Post which really is a PITA for me. Perhaps it's because we're rural but for me it does seem to take forever. I'd much prefer regular UPS or regular Fedex.

Yea, I just noticed that I have a different order coming from someone else that is Smart Post. I just now figured out what that was. That one is taking forever to get here, and I paid a lot more for shipping.

I live rural also.

Hey I'm only 3 miles from where the GPS systems say "Turn around. You have reached the edge of civilization." If people (including Smart Post I guess) would be just a little more adventurous they'd make it. :D

every time I've ordered from DFS, the order always comes in SmartPost... I'm most certainly not rural, and it takes just as long. I think its a side effect of the fact that the package changes hands many times, THEN changes vendors at least once.. I've never had a SmartPost package arrive sooner than 8 days after order..

There you go. SmartPost *****.
In fact if I can't get something locally and I can get it online for a similar price from somebody other than F&S I'll do so because of the SmartPost thing. I am all about instant gratification. Just don't have the patience for SmartPost...
