Well, I woke up this morning and one of my acans is not looking very good. Everything else in the tank looks to be doing just fine. I did just add a small emerald crab yesterday, but during the day it did stay cleaning the rock only. Do I have a sick acan or a crab that likes acans?

I did also have this acan next to another acan, did they fight last night maybe?

The acans should not have fought each other. Your frag does look like it was involved in a whoopin.

Did it fall polyp down in the sand or do you have any other coral near or that might have free floated in the tank?

I dipped the coral to be safe, the acan was laying face up and the ground to begin with. The only other coral near it was more acans, the acan that was touching it is also alittle damaged. This is why I'm thinking fight.

I guess they could have duked it out, but I have never heard of the same kind of acans fighting each other. Any other changes in tank and how did they look prior to this morning? Were they healthy or shriveled up? Do you dose anything at night - I have seen a chunk of precipitated 2-part land on a colony of palys and melt them just like that?

I would concentrate on keeping the other polyps healthy.

No dosing, It was two different acans next to each other. Last night they looked great, all puffy and extended.

Wow, I wish I had an answer for you. I've been there and done that. I would concentrate on keeping the remaining polyps healthy. Maybe move them up to a rock or watch the tank a couple of times tonight after lights out to see if anything else happens.

How is the current where it was sitting? Most of my acans like slow flow

yo, what happened to the acan? is that slime? is it still there? can you siphon it off?

It has been dipped and cleaned, all the slime is done. I doesn't really look that bad, but one polyp may not make it.

I'm kind of new to Acans so No idea what happened but typically Acans do not fight one another. A lot of collectors will make rocks with multiple colonies for a splash of color.

Are they getting enough flow?

I keep them away from the rock, out in more flow. I will be adding a koralia nano in a day or two.

They should have enough flow so that the heads slightly rock back and forth...too little flow and they melt away, too much flow and they never open up.

Yes, what Rob Said ^. I like indirect flow - if you are going to run a Koralia nano you should be OK
