In taking the idea of videoing meetings and running with it, this is what I propose as a possible solution:
maast could:
purchase one or two of these (http://store.theflip.com/UltraHD.aspx)
*create a private youtube account and upload them to it for posting in the charter member forums (keeping only last x number of meetings online (im guessing 3-4 at most due to size))
**or host them on maast.org and post the links in charter member only forum
this thing records hd video at 8Gb/120mins which would be HUGE so only speaker content would need to be recorded for brevity. of course speakers would have to be ok with doing this (case by case basis)
here is a sample video taken with the one posted and uploaded to youtube

youtube compresses the video but as you can see this is more than acceptable quality wise.
as for the above options:
* this might not be feasible because of youtube's upload limits (2gb iirc). the videos would have to be further compressed before uploading. that camera holds a full 2 hours at 8gb at highest resolution. a 30 min video would be roughly 2gb (the youtube max) but, they could be further compressed which isnt hard to do
** this would eat up a lot of bandwidth unless the videos were compressed more than the raw format also which would take some time. brian would have to check our bandwidth stats to see how feasible this would be.
these are not definite end all be all solutions if anyone has better suggestions bring them forward. this is just something for the BOD/administration to kick around so to speak.
i would volunteer as much time as a 40+ hour work week and full time school schedule will allow to help with something like this.
thoughts?
