Hey guys,

my wavemaker stopped working this afternoon. Every cycle that the impeller should be turning I get an alarm.

I've taken out the unit, taken apart the box and cleaned everything. Still no go with the impellerturning although I can feel it straining on cycle but no turn. I've taken the impeller unit out and cleaned it insideand out.

I've searched the web and couldn't find anything similar in any of the languages that I'm familiar with (English).

Anyone out there have any maintenance experience with this? Seems to be real simple device... But...

Is it a Tunze? E-mail Tunze through their site and a guy named Roger (in Austin) will contact you. he will take care of you, real nice guy.

Allan,
Give Roger a call @ (512)-833-7546, he will tell you what to do or tell you to send or bring it to him and he will fix it. He's in Austin at 305 Victor St 78753. My controller wouldn't work and he just gave me a new one. The BEST customer service you will see.

Thanks Steve, I just sent him an email and will call tomorrow at a decent hour. I don't want to disturb him over the holidays. Is that his cell or office number?

I just read through the service manual and took the motor apart to a whole new level, cleaned out some more detritus, but still no worky. I'll ring him tomorrow and see if he has the answer.

Allan, when this happened to my Stream I had to clean the impeller and the impeller housing really good with a toothbrush, if you've already done that than I would contact Roger.

are there any buttons to push on the controller at all? when the exact same thing happened to me with the vortech pump, i had to hold down buttons and push a combo of other buttons and the pump was reset and worked fine after that... no cleaning required. hopefully its just something simple like that :) good luck

How long have you had your tunze? Did you use any thing before that to simulate wave (alternating current) like dual controlled power heads? If so which do you prefer?

I checked out tunze link http://www.tunze.com/149.html?&L=1&C=US&user_tunzeprod_pi1[predid]=-infoxunter016

and checked out ecotech's vortec MP-40 with controller http://ecotechmarine.com/products/mp20-to-mp40w-upgrade-kit/

tough decision:at_wits_end:........The tunze is the proven all-in-one true wave maker at the cost of bulk inside the tank, the MP-40 requires two oblique power heads with a controller and may not be a true wave maker but is less bulky and puts the heat from the motor outside the tank. I have also heard that it is a little noisy though.

What are your toughts?

Wish I could help, but this is my first experience with a wavemaker. I'd been looking at the vortech but the cost... not crazy about how much space the Tunz takes up inside the tank, but what I hate more is the lack of a wave inside the tank now that it's out.

Waiting for Monday to arrive so I can call Roger.

I only have one button and that's for the feeder pause. I keep getting an alarm each time the pump should be on. The actual impeller sometimes moves just a bit, but that's all. I can rotate the impeller by hand, and can't seem to figure out why it's not working on its own.

I've cleaned the entire motor rather thorughly but still nothing. I bet it's really something simple, and if it is I promise to make up some story to hide my ignorance. :)

I heard the gen2 mp40w are very quiet.
I'm saving my pennies for that :)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind the low profile look of the other systems, but to tell the truth I am totally happy with the Tunze. Remember that I'm operating on a Military budget coupled with a wife that LOVES to buy clothing! So my slice of the available penny is somewhat limited. I think after I retire I'll become a trauma surgeon... I hear they make nickles and dimes and throw away pennies.

I've made the Tunze Call this morning, left a message. Now I'm staring expectantly at my cell waiting for it to ring... waiting... waiting...
