I gave victor from ATB a call and was looking for a skimmer for my "nano" (45 gallon) sps reef tank. I was on the search for a high quality skimmer built well and with a good pump. After a couple hours searching skimmers out there I found there was hardly anything that was rated for my setup unless I wanted to overskim and run into poor consistency and tuning it every week, noise from pump, crappy pump that does not last more than a couple years etc. After talking to people from TUNZE, Deltec, ELos,octopus and a couple online mailorders I was getting a head ache no one had anything really made for my setup. I looked at the new bubble magnus, octo extreme, vertex, among others and always found flaws mentioned in different Reef central forums. I kept in mind that many of them just did not know how to set a skimmer up correctly, dont have the skimmer height right and other factors. Many were just not made for my size tank. Many people out there end up with skimmers that are not made for their setup or application and end up just dealing with some of the problems. I was going to spend some money but I wanted to make sure if was going to work for my application a 45 gallon sps dominated reef and a 20-25 gallon sump. Long story short I found a new skimmer that just got through testing I don't believe it is out in the market yet but it is similar to the ATB multi skimmer they make from what victor told me it is the ATB 840 model but smaller. I will post pics when I get it ups says I will get it wed so Im pretty excited to check it out just thought i would share. The one in the picture is one of the test skimmers the one I am getting is all white and used a eheim 1250.

i am having the same issue. i have a 34g display with a 20g sump and i have not been able to find the right skimmer. i was using by tunze 9010, but that was way overkill. any chance you can send me the specs and price on this skimmer so i can give it a try...

I dont believe this skimmer is officially out on the market. I think it is 8x 10. I'll let you know when I get it wed. You can look into the MULTI skimmer from ATB I think it is 8x8 it can be used as a hang on or in sump. You can check out more info from atbskimmers.com
