My stuff is still fairly young and just starting to grow and spread.
I'd really love to see some growth before and after shots.
That way I can get excited about what my tank with all my little frags will look like in years to come. :)

So post some please!

Well, I thought it was a cool thread.

Come on, I know some of you have had tanks up for years...lets see some growth pics. I have never had a tank set up for longer than 6 months to a year so I'm kind of limited on those shots.

Paul...I think it's time for an upgrade...your leathers have to be some of the largest in the hobby. Seriously...imagine all of that in a 300-500gallon.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/mabels_corner/Pets/Fishy/Saltwater/100%20Gallon%20Tank/IMG_0081.jpg

P.S. This tank is in my room so to decrease the amount of light that comes from the 'fuge light, I covered the back with some purple paper. lol

HERE'S A BETTER ONE!
So here's my BioCube 29 at 3 days old (January):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/mabels_corner/Pets/Fishy/Saltwater/IMG_0063.jpg

I'm excited! I had the hang on 'fuge and it was BIG and covered practically all of my frontal view of my tank. :(
So I got tired of it and today I tore it down and I'm in the processes of taking everything out of it and putting it in my 100 gallon's 'fuge. The hang on was because I really wanted a Mandarin and prepared for it. I had that thing on there for months!

Ah yes, 27 weeks old (July):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v628/mabels_corner/Pets/Fishy/Saltwater/DSCN5289.jpg

And TODAY! 50 weeks old (December):
(Tank pump was off... I was feeding and the glass is dirty from where the 'fuge was lol)

LOL I know it's huge! I have no idea how I put up with that for about 5 months!
I'm glad it's off now though. lol It really took away from the tank but now it looks sort of refreshed. :)

Here are a few from my tank:

Orange Monti Cap (late 2007/early 2008). Between nickel and quarter size. This coral was part of a very generous donation from Troy Valentine when I was first getting into corals. I went to his place to get some free Xenia and left with so much more.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/Rychek426/MontiCap.jpg
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/Rychek426/OrangeMonticap.jpg
Same (lat 2008/early 2009).
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc246/Rychek426/ActinicMontiCap.jpg

I don't have a really current pic of that coral, but it's almost three times that size now. It's amazing what a little B-Ionic will do. :)

I thought I had some good comparison pics for this thread, but it looks like I need to take some recent pics. None of my picsare less than six months old. More to come when I get a chance to take a few new pics.

Ok, I went to Giau's house over the summer to pick up some birdsnest and he gave me a section of that brown growing plate-like coral. Not sure what it's called but the piece he gave me was about two or three inches. I don't have any early photos, but here is a picture of the coral when I stood up the new tank, and the second is a picture taken this morning by me.

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/scroll1.jpg

This morning...

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/scroll2.jpg

The birdsnest was about an inch tall and about half an inch wide with several branches. No early shots that I could find, but its now about the size of a softball. The first one is the actual current BN.

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/Birdsnestmmothercolony.jpg

While moving into the new tank this summer I broke off a piece accidently, here's an early shot of that piece that broke...

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/birdsnest1.jpg

I had glued it to that rock, and about a week ago it fell off and I glued it to another piece and wedged it in a crevice in the picture below...

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/bn.jpg

Here is an early picture of a toadstool, got this from AD.

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/leather1.jpg

This one was taken this morning, not fully extended but large enough...

http://i621.photobucket.com/albums/tt295/alaviers/growth%20pictures/photo.jpg

Now I wish I had an early photo of this one. In jan or Feb I got in on that group buy that Cheri BB had organized. I got a 12 dollar three polyp disk frag.... this is what those three look like now. It's the green zoas... and if you look very closely you can actually see the frag disk... sort of...

It's taken over the rock that I glued the frag disk to...

LOL. No way! It doesn't move. It doesn't eat. People are constantly upset because of their finicky sticks. I just don't "get it".
But it is amazing that the things can change color like that!
The only SPS I'd still want more of would be encrusting montis. I got a nice x-mas tree rock from Sherry with bright green encrusting monti on it and that's very pretty. No sticks for me. :)

Karin, this is that frag you sold me a while back for ten bones. It's one of the few corals I haven't bumped or dropped off pieces. I think it had two branches at the time.

fantastic Allan!
(I figured if an SPS! grows well for me it's got to do well pretty much anywhere else but that is amazing growth! Might have to buy a frag back some time ;) )

one day i may decide to frag the toadstool ( i really want an all white one) just because SHE is way to big and covering some zoa's that are on that rock but i truly want her to get as big as SHE wants to get

Ps she like the tunze on the controller you can see all of the action she gets

Karin,

I'm terrible at selling stuff. Tell you what, I'll snap off a twig today and glue it to a frag plug and put it in the spare tank. As sooon as you're ready for it its yours.

Were you able to rehabilitate the yellow gorg?

JT, I have a toadstool that is about 8" across. I hate how much space it takes up but I'm not crazy about letting it go either. What a hobby.

Wow, everybody has some really nice growth pics. JT that thing is HUGE. About a year and a half of growth? Awesome!

Ismael...wonderful shots and what a blessing to have such nice corals growing well for you.

Oh nice Ace. You've inspired me to go back to offering live baby brine. I can't really tell if anybody is eating them though. Just a teeny spoon makes so many so I kind of dump a lot of them in the tank at one time. Does that seem okay? Any tricks to ensure everybody who wants some gets some?

i dont do anything special when i add them, i just put em in with pumps going and all. i am adding them twice a day now, one batch in the morning and one in the evening.

wow stephen, that is lots of growth for less than two months!
