What would you guys pick? I'm looking for something to setup on my desk at work. Gotta stay small under 5g.

JBJ 3g
http://www.amazon.com/JBJ-Lighting-3gal-Picotope-Aquarium/dp/B001EUL4DM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1260383703&sr=8-1

Finnex 4g
http://www.amazon.com/Finnex-Gallon-Glass-Aquarium-Filter/dp/B002SZMB8Y/ref=pd_sbs_k_6

Does anyone know what type of lighting is in the 4g? It says 26 Watt Engery Saving Light w/ Night View Blue LED but I don't know if its a PC bulb. I would assume so.

I would think that the 4 gal tank would be a little less effected by changes in the water. Other than that I think either one will work.

My guess is PC on the lights but that's just a guess.

I love the idea of a pico in the office! I've often thought about setting one up here at work.

I'm all for the Finnex! Plus the finnex comes with a moon light! Way cool. 26 watt finnex vs 9watt JBJ too.

Found on this link: http://www.reefbuilders.com/2009/07/20/finnex-4-gallon-rimless-glass-pico-tank/

Appears to be a common CFL bulb. Coralife carries them in a few different colors.

Talk to Cbianco about his Finnex. He swears by it. Watch the video in build thread. He is almost trying to rock the thing apart and it's holding up just fine.

There are a lot of other Finnex followers here besides him. I'd say it would be a great choice.

Thanks everyone. I have been leaning towards the Finnex not only b/c of the brand rep but the higher watts & volume of water. Still got to clear it with my company, but I see no problem as they allow plants and other misc stuff. It's going to be sweet.

Hope they give you the green light! I'd love to see the build thread.

Finnex builds a great product. With that being -said you are at the limits of the hang on filtration that comes with the tank. From what I have read they are quality and as with everything else in our hobby you can find all kinds of mods if you want them

ive seen both and the reason i went with the jbj was the bowed front but hardware wise they are the same decent light and HOB, the leds are a plus, this should be a good build, im thinking of getting LEDs for mine soon

Wow, that Finnex tank is awesome... if you replace the HOB filter with something like an AquaClear 70 from Hagen, you can build a quick and dirty little 'fuge to run it through -- increases water volume another 1/4-1/2 gallon as well :)

I may have to get one of those at some point... thats slick.
