View Full Version : December meeting feedback wanted

Looking for feedback on today's meeting. I think it went well overall, but of course, could be improved upon in the future. In my professional life, we sit down and recap every event to see what we would like to do again next time, what to do differently, etc.

I'll go first:
Mike suggested we scrap the karaoke (I'm afraid his super-star performance of "Do They Know It's Christmas" may have been a one time thing for those there to enjoy it today).

Very nice facilties, but location was a bit problematic.... Not sure I would want to use them again unless we have members from San Marcos area available to assist with some of the administrative tasks (contract signing, pick up key, return the key, etc.) That's a lot of trips to San Marcos when only San Antonio members attended today (and Kevin too from NB!)

What did you guys like and not like about today's event?

I thought it was great. Sure small crowd but it was great seeing familiar faces... or familiar screen names.

Aside for the poor showing, and to a lesser degree the drive, I can't think of a single thing that could be improved upon. Thank you Kristy for getting this together. I had a great time.

Oh, and BTW, the raffled frags began to open prior to the lights going out. Real nice bright pinks.... I won't wear pink, might as well have it in the tank. :)

Yes like said above. I think the place would be great if more Austin members attended as it would be somewhat in between. I do wish more people would have made it but this time of year is pretty hectic.

Food was great though. I liked donating the gift to help needy kids. Didnt get to white elephant this year but I'm sure that was a good idea also. Maybe a frag white elephant next year?

On a side note- We ended up with a bunch of macro from Allan as it was just going to be tossed since no one else at the party needed it. We didn't really need it either, but I am glad we took it because it was great. I pulled out numerous small brittle stars and pods from it. Very nice stuff. I would recommend Allan's macro to anyone when he next offers it up.

Thanks to everyone who came to the party. It was great to meet with everyone and it seemed like everyone had a good time. It was a shame more people couldn't make it... to make our club a greater success, we could use more active participation and commitment from our members. We need to focus on working to pull the community together more, both with the fun stuff, but also the support and education sides of our hobby. Hope to see everyone soon at our next meetings and events. :)

I agree with Mike, our club's sucess is based on the member's participation and commitment. Yes I understand we are a online community but this organization will not grow without active members. All differencesd need to be set aside and bring this club back to what it used to be.

I would like to see this meeting held in S.A.

I do believe that we should have meetings in other towns thru the year but the December meeting should be held in the city that is home to the majority of the members.

Kristy did a GREAT job setting up this meeting.

Like to add my thanks to those who attended...we all just jumped in the the kids and painted our own ceramic fish...which mine was the coolest,,,

I also want to see this meeting happen here in San Antonio next year as I feel it would have been a larger turnout...but we wanted to include our Austin area members also.

Kristy...thank you for your work in putting it together...it was fun for those who were there...great getting to meet some I hadn't met in person before...geez Allan...didn't know you were so short!

Fun watching the kids sing...priceless watching Mike sing...hehe

Really dude? I was the tallest guy there wearing a green shirt that said "Today I feel like a Giant" with a picture of the jolly green giant. Sorry, didn't realize you didn't recognize me from my visit out to your house for that rock in March.

And by the way G, you can pull the pink shirt off well enough. I just can't swing it with your style. :)

Thanks Mike. I appreciate the words, but I got to tell you that it warms my heart to know that I'm not the only nerd that goes through filters and chaeto to pilfer the livestock living in it. Wife thinks I'm one sick wierdo though. :)

Just getting a chance to reply...

I thought it was great. Food was great and glad Ace & Christy (sp?) brought some desserts. Just a long drive for us since we took the kids to a baby sitter.

Just a thought, but if someone had a camera, laptop, and internet connection at the meeting site, we could do video conferencing between a couple sites or something for those in other towns. It saves the drive, and just requires a single organizer in each location. Don't know if we have any tech savvy people that can do this, but I know it might help with those that are far away.
