I just bought this wrasse knowing he was very sick. Due to the rarity of the fish, I decided to take my chances. She seems to have some sort of fin rot and is not using her dorsal fin to swin at all, just her side fins. She stays vertical most of the time. I was looking for any type of recommendations of things I can do to help nurse her back. I'd just hate to lose a fish that's so hard to get.

I bought some Melafix for fin rot before but was later told Melafix doesn't really do much and 'real' medication would have been better.
If you want the Melafix though I still have most of it left. You can have it.
You do have that fish in your QT not your DT right?
Good Luck!

DT was the only place for him unfortunately. I don't have many fish in there, mostly coral, so I'm going to have to take my chances. Most of the issue was that he was kept in a small holding tank for too long.

Above is a link I have used for ID before. Sorry, I've been fortunate enough to have not needed to know much about diseases. Part of my "luck" is observing all fish (and tankmates) multiple times before purchase. Buying a sick fish carries all sorts of baggage. A "rare" fish may be such because its a poor shipper/ delicate in captivity and every purchase encourages poor hobby habits. You are also endangering the pets already under your care. I hope this fish works out for you and you choose specimens more carefully in the future.

He didn't make it through the night. It was a Rhomboid Wrasse, they're just hard to come by. Well, at least I tried.

For some of the harder to find or delicate fish, I order them from LiveAquaria.com. They have a 14 day guarantee on the fish and they guarantee that they will arrive healthy. It definitely minimizes the risk and is worth the cost of the shipping.

Oh, I know where I can order them, but all around $200. I paid very little for him due to his condition hoping I could turn him around.
