I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A LARGE ACRYLIC TANK, AND SHE WISHES NOT TO HAVE HARD TO CLEAN-PURPLE AND GREEN ALGAE GROWING ALL OVER HER ACRYLIC. OTHER THAN REDUCING THE LIGHT TIMER AND CHECKING NITRATES/PHOSPHATES, IS THERE ANY WAY TO SCRAPE IT OFF WITHOUT DAMAGING THE ACRYLIC?:at_wits_end:

I have used a Kent scraper for acrylic aquariums when i would clean my fuge. You have to be very gentle with it or it will scratch the acrylic.

The Kent scrapers work well, but need blade replacement often in my experience. I have also used a thin (1/8" or less) piece of acrylic with a 45 degree angle cut on one end. An old credit card will work also. HTH.

Have her run her acrylic safe magnet at least twice a week and like Bernie said use the Kent Pro Scraper with Acrylic blades.
