Bubble Tip Anemone Care

I got a beautiful bubble tip anemone from AquaTek last week. It has been opening up and exposing itself to the light. It has also been eating. My only concern is that it put itself next to a mushroom colony and the rock tends to get exposed to the air when I do my water changes.

I wish the little bugger would have stayed where I put him the first time. It would have been perfect for him.

Would being exposed to the air hurt the anemone?

Its a beautiful Nem. Anemones live in shallow regions that are prone to be exposed in low tides. They are able to cover their tender areas (tentacles and mouth) leaving their slime to keep them insulated until high tide returns. It's very possible it will move again on its own after you do a WC and becomes exposed.

FYI: Waratah anemones are able to cover themselves in sand and stay out of water for extended periods of time. Fascinating creatures.

Sweet, that's good to know. I doubt the mushrooms will bother him any. The mushrooms have actually seemed to move away from where the anemone is.

Two of our four anemones are slightly exposed when we do WC and they have a way of stretching and tucking for cover. Come right out after the WC looking great.

Nem may decide to move again, like Justin was saying, especially since it just settled there and may still be "deciding" if it likes that spot. The WC could be enough to convince it to keep moving (or might even more before you get to the WC). The main thing is that from the picture it looks great, seems to be happy and healthy, so just keep an eye on the roaming if it moves again.

That is almost exactly how my green bta is situated. I don't have the out of water problem but like said above anemones are subjected to this in the wild and do fine. I almost bought a warthaw the other day but man that thing was tiny. I knew they were smaller but it had to have been half inch size.

I am considering getting a 3rd anemone. I love them so much.
