View Full Version : The fish in my life....

Third Coast Tropical

Okay....I was going through all my pictures and thought I would share some of the fish/people that have contributed to the madness that is Third Coast Tropical....Some of these are from my time at UTMSI-FAML and the fish/people I worked with there. The others are from my personal tanks, the past (Port Aransas) and the present (San Antonio). I have a lot so this will probably come in pieces.

Me and a very ripe female southern flounder. My MS thesis involved these fish and I have a soft spot for them.

My colleague (Barrett ~MAAST codename...redrum) holding a very nice common snook. On this day we were pulling out all of the snook in one of our brood systems and tubing them for gametes.

Wow... what a venture! Huge respect to the photos of you moving your tanks...

We specifically waited until we bought and moved into this house to give our first try at salt-water tanks because we did not want to deal with moving an established reef tank. Of course, knowing what we know now... wish we'd started sooner. All that time wasted on fresh-water tanks! :)

Well,....it's a long story, but these are fish I personally raised from Minh's brood. I transported the eggs from his office to my place, hatched and raised them from there. They are the same line as GCReef's fish, just older. I have a thread in the propagation forum documenting most of their early lives.

Very cool. Don't ever part with them. I parted with my Rod's reef onyx breeding pair and I REGRET IT!!!!!

Thanks for documenting. This is the kind of stuff this club needs to see more of.

You should consider submitting an article to the Newsletter committee about this conservation of wildlife effort.

+1 -- a chronicling of where the state of educational mariculture, even if just a high-level overview, would be terribly fascinating... I'd hang on the every word. :)
