I broke a piece off my sump and was wondering what type of glue I should use. It's toward the top and should rarely see water, but I want it sealed right. Thanks.

Weld-on... #3 or #4 are both watery in consistency, 'harder' to work with, but will do the job likely best... Weld-on #16 is a bit thicker and easier to work with -- if its not gonna see pressure this is probably fine.

Ya it wont see any pressure so I'll prolly try #16. Found at any hardware store I assume?

Possibly -- I'd call a few places first... Plastic Supply specialty shops will absolutely have it, hobby shops and general hardware stores may too..

I like Weld on #4 and I normally pick it up at Regal Plastics

Weldon 16 contracts too much when it dries. You will get air bubbles under the seam if you apply too much.
Like Jose said, try weld on 4. you can get it at any of the plastic places here in town. I think there are 3 of them.

I just started messing with acrylic myself. I have found weld on 4 to be the best. Many times it will discolor the acrylic if it gets on an area where other than the seam. But, if this happens just take a small torch or heat and go over the discolored area. This will fix the issue easily.
Also, I have used a small craft paint brush to apply it, this process seems to work best for me.

Cool, I'll get weld on 4 instead and let you know how it works.
Thanks!

the best way to apply weldon #3 or #4 is with a hypo (kinda like a hypodermic needle, but not sharp, much larger gauge and attached to a plastic bottle instead of a syringe). clamp the pieces where you want them and then apply the weldon with the hypo along the seam. capillary action will pull the solvent into the seam and bond the pieces together. be carefull with the torch, if you get the acrylic too hot it will make it brittle and can cause it to craze (tiny cracks form) under pressure.

I definitely second weldon-4 - it's what I used to make my sump

Very true Jack. I used excess #16 on an acrylic patch and it contracted, split some of the plastic, and caused little fissures to appear all over the place.
That being said, I still have an extra tube of #16 of you'd like it.
