Can any sponsor get these? If so, how much mulah? Imight be interested in two different colors depending on price.

I'm not interested in the harder to keep common Linckias....these should be easier to keep long term.

Let me know.

(thanks Karin for the lead on this species)

"The bacterial film that comprises the mainstay of the Linckias diet usually appears in abundance in well established and seasoned aquariums. Supplemental feedings of meaty foods is usually not enough to sustain them."

I wonder if it eats cyano.

I bet it does Erik.

Thanks, Richard. I would prefer to buy from a sponsor. The link does help though...with pricing and availability expectations.

I have a few sponsors that PM'd me. Thanks everyone....appreciate the super fast responses! WoW! Our sponsors rock....this forum was a great idea : ))

I would also be interested in a spotted and possibly red. The blues are the hard ones to keep long term from what I've read. Although I might try one red or spotted(whichever I find first) and see how it does before getting the other. Prolly a good idea huh?

Blues are sensitive to every little change. Unless you are only changing like 5g a week, I would not recommend it.

You guys are too funny!

microorganisms and film algae that is invisible to the naked eye. The algae film they consume usually grows in only established and seasoned aquariums.

Last time I looked I could see my cyano pretty well ;)

Ahhh come on. Wishful thinking. I don't have cyano anyways. Erik's tank is loaded with it though. LOL!

Jk.

So, just came across an interesting submission on WWM thats loosely related to this conversation -- the response will be posted tomorrow on the dailies... A 1-year long owner of a blue Linckia witnessed his star in the middle of several hefty meals -- chowing on 2 species of Montipora... maybe thats why they're so tough to keep -- they may well be obligate coral consumers!

Just thought others might be interested here..

I picked it up this weekend! It's sweet! Small little guy....I'm thinking that's a good thing too since it won't be as demanding on feeding.

It really is a nice find and I'm not posting a picture because Kevin already did and I could not compete with that pic. LOL.

Thanks, Jeremy and Kevin. You guys rock!

Awesome! Glad you found one Rob!
How big across is it? 2 inches or so?

Mr Cob
Mon, 23rd Nov 2009, 12:10 PM
About 2.5-3 inches, much smaller than any Linckia I've ever owned...5-6 inches.

So how is it going for the cute little starfish (was making christmas cookies today -star shaped- and couldn't stop thinking of starfish. lol)

Well, I'm pretty bummed out. It died yesterday. I can not imagine how. It was so little, there is no way it starved in two weeks. I guess the stress was too much for it. Not sure.

I have it drying out now. I'm done trying Sea Stars. I do not want to kill anymore. Perhaps my tank is not mature enough???
