I have an iwaki external return pump on my tank. This thing is kinda of loud. Anyone recommended a decent external pump. Not sure why this thing is so loud.

I always thought Iwaki was supposed to be one of the best?
Here's an interesting thing: I was shopping for a used pump and inquired about an Iwaki pump. Then the seller send some pictures and some things didn't look quite exactly like the pictures of the Iwakis I had seen (white plastic cap instead of black, shortened model name/number, etc.)
When I searched for the model I found out that a Chinese company named Resun makes pumps that look a lot like Iwakis but are a whole lot cheaper.
I also read to use rubber washers or a piece of yoga mat, etc. rather than mount the pump on wood where vibrations are much less cushioned/louder.

On teh Iwaki the Japanese motors have MD model names, the American motors have WMD names.

Pan World all the way. The guy was an engineer for Iwaki and left to build a better mouse trap/water pump. I use a 50 PXX on my 200 gal. For a 30 to 60 I would use a 40PX. There are a lot of companies that use Pan World to build there pumps and just paint them a different color. In the old days Iwaki was the best because your only choice was Little Giant. Good pump just loud.
