I really hate to do it but it is time for the great tank move. I will do it sometime this week (probably the day I can get the most participation). I was wondering if anyone was available this week in the evening to help move a big aquarium.

I will also need the MAAST cart if possible. I was thinking Wed-Thurs I will start moving things tonight and pull the fish last. I have 4 trash cans and I think I will use a couple of my wives totes to put the fish in. they might have to stay there for a few days till the ammonia and nitrates settle down.

How long do you guys normally wait after moving all the water and rock out of a tank and replacing it to put in the fish? I don’t think it will take a full cycle but a few days probably.

The last time I did this I lost 5 fish; I hope to do much better this time. I will be using all but 25 % the exact same water and the rocks will be moved but not the sand.

Hey Carter,

I have the MAAST Cart... You would need to go through the equipment library and state your request. Kinda like checking out a book! :) Call me when you want to come pick it up.. We would like to get it back as our 240 will be here soon! :)

when i transfered my 2 cubes into the 65 it took a day or two to clear up and i killed most of my pods, yesterday i moved the 65 and did it all in one day i didnt touch the sand bed at all though, used only half the old water, i was scared the temp drop would kill my fish(cold yesterday) but everthing is doing good

It will be a blast; I will provide drinks and snacks for all involved. Come by and just hang out for a while and watch me work, lol. Wed night 6-8 pm probably. I need a temp power head or two if anyone has one collecting dust I can use for a couple days that would be awesome.

Also does anyone have a water pump with a long hose? My idea so far is to line up my buckets in the middle of the room and to pump all the water out of the tank into those buckets. Move the tank and pump the water directly back into the tank without having to move the buckets of rock and such. I will keep the fish out in some rubber made containers. I have some 15 gal ones so I will fill a bunch of them and put a couple fish per tub.

I need a few more water storage containers. Does anyone have one I could borrow for the night? I need about 150 more gallons worth of storage space.

I have 4 brute trash cans and 5- 5 gal buckets.

Man, that sucked!!! A special Thank you to JT who stayed through the whole thing! Thanks to Richard for the cans and to Eve and Ross for the pump and hoses. You were all life savers. Now my house is a wreck but the tank looks so good on the stand. Again thank to Ace and every one else involved.
