I just bought a red serpent star, and the other in the tanks have taken to eating his arms. I soon as I can get the other they are out of the tank. But my question is will the star grow new arms? Otherwise, thats $40 bucks down the drain.

Yes they can regrow arms but another serpant star is eating them? I haven't heard of this before.

In the wild, EVERYTHING eats these things. When you pick up a rock with one under it, the fish go wild...

And, yes, it should grow back as long as it's not fatally injured.

I just hadn't heard that serpents were canabalistic. My brittle star and my moms serpent were in the same tank together without problems for a week but maybe they never found each other.

I think they might eat each other if there is a lack of food, maybe not enough detritus?

My other two do not bother each other and they have all their arms. But the new one, seems to be there food. Anyone want a Purple & Brown serpent star?
