Hey Everyone,
Well i'm finally getting back in the game! Trying to get my house wired up for 220v so I can start building again. I was going to go full custom L-shape 375, but....wifey said that I cant get a big tank until i get a generator. So...i figured i'd setup the 50gallon cube i've had for a while just sitting there, just to get my fingers wet again on how much it takes to have a full blown reef. Besides, i need to make a heating station so i can start shaping acrylic so i can start building cylinders/bow fronts/etc. Here is a pic of the tank i'll be setting up:
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4545/dsc02593y.jpg
Here is what i'm thinking for equipment:
Pacific Coast CL-600 (Brand new, already have)
Icecap 660 (4 VHO Supplement) (Already Have)
Icecap 250w x2 w/ ROIII DE
Panworld 1100gph (Return)
(2) MP40's, (1) Tunze 6125
Custom sump (Need to make)
PM 622 Calcium Reactor (Already had)
It's going to be a long setup, should start going fast once i get wired up, but until then, i'll just start getting all the parts together and cleaned up. Stay Tuned!
Comments and suggestions welcomed.

CAD drawings Man, we need CAD drawings! :D

I'm so rusty using SketchUP. I'll probably just draw it and then scan and post. Island stack is just a Skinny stack of rocks, one on top of the other, all the way to the top. So basically there would be 360 swimming space around it.
I was going to start the sump construction today, but I really need to organize and move the bins with my stuff in them. I need to build some cabinets for the garage and since i'll be using MDF, everything is going to get caked with dust, including my Hayabusa if I dont move all the stuff out the way. Should be able to get everything moved tomorrow though. Sump construction to start by end of the week.

That's funny you say that, i actually had put it up for sale about a year ago but never got any bites on it.
This is what i worked on all day. I didnt realize how much rust had accumulated on my tablesaw and guide rails. Spend all day using rust remover, sanding, etc getting it all cleaned up. All good now. Few more things to do then i should be all good to start cutting. Sump to start by the end of the weekend.

Started on the sump. Thought i had enough acrylic but decided to go a little bigger than before so i only had enough for the bottom and front/back. Hopefully i get some mula this weekend so i can buy some acrylic. Sump is going to be 24x18x16 - 30 gallons.

the plywood should be enough support, just be sure you have the grain running vertically (you probably already knew that, but i thought i would mention it anyway)
the only thing i would be a little concerned about is the way the tank does not go all the way out to the edge in the back(?) in this pic

Thanks!
Got the sump finished. Just have to glue in the probe holders and drill for return bulkhead and float valve.
http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/4531/dscn2967y.jpg
I decided not to go with the lumenbrights, i had a PFO reflector that i just modified and mounted two sockets on each each. Spread should be perfect and more than enough for anything.
Started working on the skimmer. I'll post some pics up tonight.
Need to order the following still:
Sicce PSK600 (Skimmer pump)
MP60wES - Will come later
Sand
Fresh live Rock
Misc Plumbing
Thanks

nice looks sick! I like that skimmer, seems to be pulling a lot of crud out. But what I honestly like best is that ATO resivour its so hard to find something that works well. you want a taller tank skinny as possible but cant ever find one. Lots of forethought and great work and craftsmanship. Good job ram

Oh yea, i love phoenix 14k's, had one on the small cube, awesome colors with it. Still best colors i have ever had was with Hami 20k 400w. Thanks on the skimmer, took me two days to build it all the circle cutting, then routing, then routing some more, worth it though, tank looks crystal clear, much better than before.

Well, tank has recovered. My clowns have been laying eggs like crazy. I have 7 green/pink bubble tips now, way too many softies, got a few sps frags from Minh that have been doing great. Next month will mark the 3 year anniversary. Tank will be coming down in the next week and half to two weeks. Our builder will be coming to replace tiles throughout the house so everything will go into a rubbermaid stock tank in the office until.....wait for it....I get the new 8ft tank built! So all the critters will be going into a new 8ft tank, havent decided if i'm going to build a 300g, 260, or 200g yet. I'm aiming more towards the 240, one thing is for sure, its going to be an 8ft tank so I can pick up some more tangs. I'm thinking really hard of finally getting rid of the metal halides for some Radion XR30 Pro's. Here's what i'm thinking for the build:
- 96x24x30/96x25x25/96x22x22
- (3) Radion XR30 Pro's (fine with a little dark areas at the edges
Or Keep the halides and upgrade to (3) Lumenbright Mini's w/ 250w Icecaps 14k/20k, two Icecap 660's pushing T5 and VHO Actinics
- Dual Chamber Calcium Reactor
- Apex Controller
- (2) MP40es
- Blueline 100px for return
- Reeflo Dart w/ OM 4-way on CL via substrate piping
- Chiller if needed (Wife would love to get rid of this :) )
- New Sump/Refugium w/ built in Frag Section
Be on the lookout for the new thread!
Stay tuned
