I use a yellow head, diamond and a watchman I think. I have 5. They do a good job but they do make a mess. they spread sand across the LR. But the sand is always white.

I would recommend a dragon goby. They do an excellent job at keeping sand free of algae growth and other detritus.

I love my diamond gobies personality. He's always out and about and always busy and he keeps my sand white as snow. With a diamond goby (at least mine) don't expect crystal clear water. With as much as they sift they will always puff a bit of sand up into the water. The only other downside is mine is OCD about the sands placement. For some reason he does not like the sand to be thick in the front center of the tank. No matter how often I put the sand back he will always clear out a spot in the middle front of the tank. I tried scolding him, but he just nipped at me. He's the first goby i've ever seen that doesn't run when my hand or tool goes into the tank.

Same here. I had "ugly" sand til I picked one up. He really doesn't make that much of a mess at all.
