Hey Guys,

I was wondering if there were any electricians here on MAAST? I just bought a 3.2HP Craftsman Compressor and I need to add a 240v to my existing electrical in my garage. I actually have to add a 240v and a 220v for my tablesaw. Trying to get the shop setup so I can start building tanks again. Brand new house, just need some help, i want to make sure i follow code.

Thanks
Ram

If youre using a gas dryer, look behind it, there should ba 240v outlet already installed...

Nope, no gas dryer. My washroom is right inside the house from the garage.

There should be a 220/240 outlet were your dryer is. I am NOT a house electrican. I AM a aircraft electrican. so I wouldn't know the codes for houses. however for me wires are cake and simple. Your about 45 min away so if you need a hand let me know.

buy the plug then match the colors of the plug to the compressor, black line/white line/ and your green ground. if you want to get more indepth then, ohm out the plug, meter lead on one point of the plug other lead on a wire end on the plug, and read for ohms. its should read 0 saying that that wire goes to that plug point.

wait it looks like you have a plug attached. do you need a plug installed in your house?

Thanks Ballard. I talked to my cousin(an electrician) and he helped me out. Got everything all wired up and all. It's pretty sweet!

Yea, i'll snap some pics tomorrow. Turned out pretty easy and everything is working great. Compressor has a small leak from bottom valve, but i think i just need to tighten it.
