Ok,

So now I have this large cave that you can look into... only there isn't a whole lot in there. I've placed some dead coral branches around the inside of the lip to give it some variety but what I'd really like to do is grow something in there that will provide a... something.

One of my kenya trees dropped a branch, I'm assuming, that took residence within the cave. Not sure how long it will last with the limited amount of light in there. Are there any branching coral or tree like stuff that will move to the current that I can place in there?

I've got a large kenya that sits near and off the center of the entrance of the cave. Doesn't hide it or detract from it, but I think if I had some similar growth within the cave it would be awesome.

red chili coral, but it is a filter feeder, so you have to be sure there is enough food in the tank for it

Any non-photosynthetic gorgonian would be cool in there, but once again they require lots of phyto and zoo plankton to survive. Or you could look into getting some sun coral. They dont need much light, but you will have to target feed them.

I will have to look at the red chili coral.

The Gorgonias, wow. I'm having a difficult time with them. I have a red and a yellow that only parts of them are doing well. It has to do with the flow rather than the feeding. The cyano outbreak awhile back really showed me the areas of these guys that weren't doing so hot. Slow growers so I will have to see how they respond. I have several other nondescript gorgonias that seem to be doing very well, but I would hesitate to move them into the cave for fear of getting them out of that sweet spot.

I have a sun coral frag, but I think IMO that there isn't much of a profile to place them into the cave.

How about if I placed a submersible blue led into the roof of the cave to provide some light. Would that work? Or would it look corney. I can't say that I'm trying to look 100% natural, but I don't want any kind of really obvious techy crystal ball effect either. It may be cool to see the inside lit up and growing though... providing there is a light that could be submerged.

Sometimes lfs have deep water acro that do best in the shade. Make sure you fully understand their needs before purchasing. And don't solely rely on what they tell you @ the lfs either.
