There is popping in my tank at night. 8 peppermint shrimp are gone after two months. I have no predators of peppermint shrimp, other than a large cleaner shrimp that is territorial. Do I have a pistol shrimp somewhere? I can't see the back of my rockwork, so he could have a den back there and I wouldn't know. The popping is only at night.

Good read. The popping I hear is definitely one pop at a time. And none of my hermit crabs are harmed. I have had no fish deaths. Just the peps. Oh well. Maybe I'll see him someday.

I have that pop as well. Still have my peppermint but I had a bi-color blenny disappear a few weeks ago. I didn't realize they went after fish.

That's the difference between a 38 six shooter and a derringer...
