Hey Everyone! I bought the 12 gallon Nano from another MAAST member and a beautiful clown fish to go in there. Today I finally got to go to Gabe's and got a nice little clean-up crew.

The hubby and I then went over to get some of the live rock from Phenomenal and I couldn't pass up a fire shrimp, purple clam, and I think it is a banded coral shrimp. I should be able to post some pictures later on tonight, but I have a birthday party for my nephew to go to shortly after we get all of the live rock taken care of!

I am soooo excited. Things are really progressing and now the 130 is going to have to be well on its way since we already purchased a lot of the rock for it!

Gabe suggested we go with about 12 snails of different types. We were going to get some hermit crabs, but he said that he had noticed that they had been going after the snails so we decided not to get any of those right now.

I need to get some better pictures of this pink stuff--we are still wondering what it is. We have lost the clown fish and a clam we purchased. :at_wits_end: We seem to have a major amount of bristle worms, too! One of the pieces of rock is so pretty with a bunch of mushrooms and feather dusters, but we don't know if the bristle worms are causing a problem and that is where they really like to live so we may get rid of it. We have also started to see a lot of teeny tiny snails crawling around.

bristle worms arent really a problem just look ugly, snails might be mini turbos i had hundreds in on my past 29 biocubes they only came out at night and cleaned up. your clam needs better lighting if your running the stock compact florecents that isnt enough light

If you are talking about the stuff dead-center that appears white, looks like a sponge. P

Thank you both for the information! We have heard differing opinions about the bristle worms and wanted to get more information. I haven't seen them actively trying to eat anything, but I eventually want to make this a seahorse tank and don't want anything that will hurt them! The shrimp will be moving to our big tank when we have that up and ready. After that I will be working on getting the seahorses. My husband wants to scrap everything in the tank by moving the shrimp and snails to our live rock tank and getting rid of the rock and live sand in this one. However, I hate to do that because there are some really cool things on and in the rock!

About the pink stuff, I read that it might be a sponge, but it really seems to be trying to take over. Is that a bad thing? I took some more pictures:

This is the "sponge". I know there was a flash, but that was the best way to get the coloring:

We are also wondering what this is; I know it is a little blurry and I am sorry about that. Does anyone know?

Thanks again everyone! Since we are new to this, we appreciate any and all help!!!!

the pink stuff is a sponge, and will probably not do any damage to anything. the item circled in the second picture is an aptasia anemone, i believe. if that is the case, then it should be kilt as soon as possible. get some aptasia control, or joe's juice or aptasia x and follow the directions. and bristle worms are bad for seahorses. get a little 6-line wrasse, but you'll have to get rid of it before you get your horses

Thanks for all of the help. After the last post, my husband shot over to Gabe's and is just getting home with some stuff to get rid of those anemones. He also picked up some traps for the bristle worms--Gabe said that it would probably take the fish too long to get rid of them (for the seahorses). Thanks again everybody!!!!

It has been a long time since we updated this thread! The hubby has cleaned out this tank and all of the live stock is in our 55 gallon holding tank. (The is a tank we got to hold all of the live rock, live stock, etc. until the 130 gal tank is ready). He fragged some of the stuff that was in there and put it in the holding tank as well. We still are battling with some stubborn stuff like green hair algae and some other stuff, but we don't have any bristle worms any more! :blushing: He went and got some peppermint shrimp from Gabe and we are focusing on the big tank right now because I really want that done!
