I've been looking for live rock recently and I'm still new to the saltwater. I saw some post with new stock and I never really asked, I just went all over the city for things I needed but I was curious where some of the people here like to spend there money.

I would just look at the sponsors on here. They have great items. Some have better prices then others but a lot do weekly specials. I believe that shop over at eckhert is doing a 1.99 a pound special this weekend on live rock. That is a steal.

that will be the cheapest in the city no other store will come close to that price.... most other stores will be doing 4-9$ per pound

I agree. Keep in mind they are big rocks thought. Not many small pieces.

I bought the majority of my rock at aquarium designs. But I've found frags that are attached to nice sized rocks as well.

The shop off eckert does have the cheapest rock I have found, and has great deals on corals. For hardware (lights, pumps, heaters, etc.) aquarium designs has good deals and jason is very knowledgeable. For fish you can find good deals at alamo aquatics, and even sometimes at pollys pet shop. That is what I have found, good luck in starting out, very fun hobby.

Go see Gabe's Fish and Exotics off Evers/410. He has great prices on fish, coral and dry goods including salt & chemicals. They are also great to help with your setup and just talk shop...

I would recommend Alamo Aquatics. Not only because I work there but because we have really cheap prices on fish and all corals are 30 bucks. When it comes to live rock I would like to suggest us but we don't always have a good amout in stock. We got over 200 lbs in yesterday though so I would go check it out if I were you.

AA also has a large selection of in house tanks for sale.

specifically for live rock I also suggest Phenominal his prices have been the best my 5years in the hobby. Always $2.99 or less per pound. Know one else comes close.

As for livestock I shop at Alamo and Phenominal for fish and coral. Great prices and they are the nearest stores to me.

I would suggest checking them all out for yourself and see which you prefer. I personally use AD and Phenomenal Aquatics, but I travel over 40 miles for each, but I don't live in town.

Each store has positives and negatives. They are all good in their own right.
