I use a spot light 150w and leave it on 24/7 and my macro loves it.

I use a home depot light, macro growing like crazy. Lesson's learned though... design your fuge, if you're running one for macro, so that the water coming in will wash through the macro. My first set up allowed water to pass over and around the macro, and when the fuge filled up not all of the plant got water flow.

Now I have my water coming in on the bottom section of my macro section, and the water must travel through the macro to get to the top where the water spills over into the quasi-crypt section of the fuge.

Another lesson learned, measure twice or even thrice... cut once :)

I have found this bulb to work best.

Seconded! I use the same exact bulb and I get awesome growth on my chaeto.

I do not run my fuge light 24/7 because studies have shown that chaeto needs the rest cycle. My fuge light runs from 10:00pm till 11:00 am (directly opposite of my main lights to help stop PH swing).

marco, just curious - did they cut the acrylic with a saw or did they score and snap it? if they did not use a saw or router, the edges will not be true and it will be very difficult to assemble. if that is the case, i could trim the pieces for you so they would fit better. it wouldnt take very long and you will only lose about 1/16" on the dimensions.

please disregard above post, thought you were building the whole thing, not just adding baffles to an existing tank - i should read more carefully eh? :)

I saw the same bulb in Target in the light section. In fact I even saw a 150Watt bulb equivelant. Wonder if that would be even better?
