So today I've noticed I have some little bugs swimming around.
Well not around but more like in swarm groups.
There's about 4 or 5 small swarms of little tiny bugs.
They keep together and I see them more towards the bottom under or between rocks.
I took a picture and photoshopped it to try and zoom into that piece of the picture.
It was the best I could do as far as photographing these little guys.

That's awesome!! Wait... is it? lol
They don't look like they'd be bad but I had never seen them before until today.
Not sure if they're being fed on 'cause it seems my fish are clueless.
I have a baby Yellow Tang, Black & White Clownfish, Green Clown Goby, and Mandarin Goby.
Actually, they look more like copepods.
I thought what I had in my hang on refugium were copepods.
They look more like isopods. I think?
They seem to walk with a hunch back. Their backs slightly curled in.
But they are easier to see than these new "bugs."

There's a bunch of these of different sizes.
And there's a bunch of little tiny ones crawling all over the glass too.

I had these in my tank before I moved...I saw them in the hole area where my pistol shrimp would hang out...never found out what they were either.

I have a bunch of them in my refugium. Acutally the whole bottom is covered with a big swarm of them. I thought they were young mysis shrimp, but not sure. I have a bunch of mysis shrimp (larger) swimming amongst the smaller shrimp.

Hmm well if anyone can help ID these guys.
Both I suppose, I'm not sure what is what.
The tiny free swimming swarms of "bugs" just appeared or found them yesterday.
But those bigger ones in my 'fuge, I'm not sure what they're called but my Mandarin Goby feeds on those.

They look like live versions of the arctipods. Maybe just larger copepods? Or tigerpods?

The bigger one is an amphipod

They look just like mysis shrimp to me or brine shrimp, have you ever fed your tank live brine shrimp?

lol Yeah Brine Shrimp but a long time ago.
Amphipod huh?! Always wondered. Good to know!
Guessing that's what my Mandarin Goby's eating.
She was pretty skinny at Gabe's but because I think she had eaten EVERYTHING.
She looks to be gaining some weight though.
I think those small ones look like copepods... but are they free swimming??
'Cause those amphipods are not and always climbing in the jungle of chaeto.

Oh those big buggers can swim. Mine do the back stroke. No joke. Copes can't and don't really swim, more like ride the current.

Indeed! I was tripping out!! I kept staring at them and wondered how something so small looked so weird.
Besides watching those little pods and amphipods scrambling about... I also enjoy watching my stomatella snails. I have TONS of them little guys.

You should have seen me with my first ever piece of live rock when I first started the hobby...I thought the amphipod was some sort of under water roach! I was freakin out! LOL!

Hahaha I don't remember what I thought it was.
I might have thought it was a copepod 'cause when I started researching what fish I wanted, a Mandarin Goby was on the list and read they ate copepods.
It makes me laugh though that almost everyone freaks out at what they find on their rock. And say... WHAT IS THAT?!?

Just pods, good sign of bio-diversity and great sign if you are thinking of adding a mandarin. You want those "bugs", if you see bugs on your coral (or corals discoloring/ dying); thats when you should start to worry.

lol Yeah I've read of those bugs that kill coral.
I'm safe so far. :whew:
I actually do have a Mandarin Goby!
Bought it a little bit skinny but saw it was looking for food.
It's gaining a little bit of weight.
She eats frozen brine shrimp too. :whew:
I'm glad I have pods. :)
