I have decided to downsize from a 265g to a 144 half circle. I’ve wanted a half circle for over a year and finally convinced myself to buy one:p. It has a Cherry Oak stand and top with dual overflows. This tank is beautiful I really love it.

The rock placement has been a real challenge:at_wits_end:. I wanted allot of swimming caves for my fish, but I also needed allot of areas to attach my corals (since I plan on keeping every single coral). After two days of planning it out I finally decided to make a rack to stack my rock. Soooo... after three long days of placing my rock I finally finished:whew:. With a little putty, tie wraps and praying I finally got the rock to stay in place. My husband is even scared to look at it the wrong way.:nailbiting:

3” sand bed
150 pound of rock
2 X 250 w MH w/ 20k reeflux bulbs (still need to purchase)
30g Sump (43”x11”x14)

Rob, the rock work looks great, and she utilized every square inch in the tank.....she has a lot of room for coral, and a lot of caves for the fish to swim.

Thanks guys......... it took me forever to get this tank going. I even had to ask for the day off tomorrow to catch up with my sleep and homework........(I was on a mission)

Well Jake, Jose got me hooked on corals and now he regrets it.

Hopefully Jose will have my light hanging tomorrow since I am so impatient :) Oh Rob I only waited 48 hours for the paint to dry and it didnt kill anything.... :) heehee

For bulbs we ended up buying a setup that came with:
Two 250 watt 12K reeflux
One 110 watt Daylight VHO
One 110 watt Super Atinic VHO

We are pretty happy with the results but will swap the Daylight VHO for another Super Atinic.

Jose needs to add the Koralia's, mount the electrical equipment, setup the Aqua Controller and DC8.

I used the magnet last night and it seems to work well. I have been thinking about purchasing a magnet with a blade. Seamonkey told me it works great.


Thanks for all the compliments... I think the rock work was the hardest thing to puzzle together without scratching the glass. I was more worried about the magnification of the tank. When I was trying to place the rock things seem to be closer then they really were. But, when your looking at the tank you can't even notice that it's magnified. I really didn't like the magnification on the 72 half circle. And I didn't want to order my tank from China so I took the chance and ordered it from Oceanic. I am glad I did!!!! Can't even tell......

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. We haven't been able to work on the canopy and lights since we have family over for the holidays. The light set up is a little bigger then the plastic canopy. I'm a little worried about it looking funny.

Well I recently went from 2-250w MH to 2-400w MH. I am having a little ph problem (low) but everything else is doing good. I will finally be adding my skimmer this week. I took a few pictures with the camera Santa does not want me to use until Christmas.

Jarob, I will post some pictures as soon as I am done with my flex classes this month. Everything is extremely healthy and I am very happy with everything. I am thinking about putting together another order in March sometime. I already have a small list I have been working on. 20 out of the 25 frags I recieve have already doubled since I placed the order.

Yep....but mine are retro and had to be mounted....I could see a 48" light fixture working inside the canopy....but I wasn't aware they made ones with 4 bulbs across. I want to know what light fixture....I'd definitely consider it.

We took the lids off the canopy and the lights hang from the top. Initially they were just under the canopy but it was getting too hot therefore now they sit an inch from the canopy. We connected two reef optix reflectors together for each side and it snugs right into the opening that the canopy has on the top. The VHO's are inside the canopy. I wanted to cut all that plastic on the top of the tank but Oceanic said it would void the warranty so this was the only way we could get all the lights in without cutting anything.


Allan, we can stop by anytime just let us know when its convenient.

We removed one of the MH from the left because it did not match. But the end product should have 4 mh side by side like the two on the right.

We did not pick up the fish trap after all. The fish that we wanted to catch in Jose's tank turned over a new leaf when we added a 11" Naso. He went from a fish killer to a little angel.

Thank you for all the nice compliments everyone. I am pretty good at keeping track of all of them but I have had a few go MIA. I just love the rainbow colors all over my rock work. They grow fast and don't require to much attention.

Jarob, the Maryjanes are beautiful but grow very slow and the Darth Mauls look better in person (you know your palys and zoas). The KO's are brighter in color and grow fast. The LE bloodshots are my fav!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!!! The cinnoman palys look bigger in person!! But they are very slow growers, I think It gives me one paly every year.

I think they're often very specialized in what kind of sponge so you may be lucky and he will leave the kind you have alone

I don't think she minds him eating sponges. She probably wants to keep him alive and has sponge for him. Pretty difficult to feed but some people like the challenge.

feeding them might speed it up some. From what I've been reading on them they occur in deeper waters and it is believed they rely more on food particles and less on light than other palys (although they are by no means NPS)
So if I remember I drop them a bite now and then. They seem to enjoy it. They don't spread at record speed but I gave one polyp away and thought I had to make do with fewer polyps but within a couple of weeks it popped out another. I am thinking the extra feedings might be key in case you want them to reproduce faster.
Yours are beautiful though!

Thanks for the info I will feed them today hopefully the fish wont try to steal the food. It has given me a total of 4 polyps in 1 year:(
