Yeah they grow back in a pretty short time. Hasn't happened in a while but I want to say no more than a month. In a slightly different case I had a CB shrimp that chopped off all but one leg on each side of a blood shrimp. They grew back over time and he learned to keep his distance.

I fully agree with them. As long as it doesn’t lose both of them you’re fine. I have a matted pair of them in one tank. They both seem to lose one are at least once a year. I have even seen were my male had lost both of his larger claws and you could see the female catching and hand feeding him for a few weeks till he malted again and grew them back.
When they do come back for the first malt I have seen were the limb is a little smaller and frailer then the original but will function fine. And after the second malt you shouldn’t be able to see any difference.
In short you have nothing to worry about.

Yep, they grow them back. Each molt it will be bigger and back to full size in about 3 molts.

I had a CB shrimp, and the only time it lost its claws is when it was stressed. But the only time I stressed it out was when I transfered to another tank. Yes they grew back.

maybe direct feed him if you can to encourage some growth. And make sure you Iodine level is right on. Best thing you can do is wait and watch.

I agree with corydrysdale on the iodine level. Crustaceans need the iodine to help with molting. But of course, as with all chems, be careful if you dose iodine as well. I have a coral banded shrimp and he gain his right claw back in about 3 or 4 molts. Wouldn't be cool if us humans could do that?
