I recently commandeered my mothers tank that she had let go. I've had it now for about two months. It's clean and stable and outside of rehoming the two awful damsels she put in there it's ready for new inhabitants. Right now I have just one astraea snail (wanna get two more), a tuxedo urchin and an emerald crab. I want to add a fighting conch to the clean up too. I also have a kenya tree, four colonies of zoas, one little hitchhiker mushroom, green star polyps, and a very small xenia.
My question mostly is if anyone has some suggestions for fish combinations. I really enjoy having functional but ornate fish but it's so difficult in a small tank. Every combination I come up with ends up flawed so....any suggestions??
Thanks :)

I was definitely wanting some kind of goby but then I need to find other fish that won't mess with it. I originally wanted to get a half black and lemonpeel at extremely young ages but I don't want to risk everything that comes with it.

you could do a docile tank, with sexy shrimp and sea horses. I saw someone with this sort of tank, it was originally a ricordea and zoa breeding tank, but it was definitely a beautiful tank!

Goby, dartfish, cardinal fish, and blenny would do. Adding seahorses with certain coral can be very tricky in a smaller tank since alot of coral prefer higher flow than a seahorse can tolerate.

Yeah, the tank was originally a seahorse tank for my mother. They did really well but the intakes never were covered and after a year of having them the inevitable happened. Live and learn. I love the idea of having seahorses again. I would love H. Reidi and H. Barbouri pairs with really whimsical looking soft corals. I may just do that. Has anyone had experience with seahorses enough to say whether gobies would do well with them? Oh and the tank has been set up for just over two years but in the middle it went through a pretty nasty "downtime".

Just ones similar to what I've already got in there. Right now I have a few zoas, kenya tree, gsp, small xenia, and a very small mushroom.

I was looking at DPotts 29g BC picture and I love the soft, pastel, whimsical look it has. I wouldn't use the frogspawn or bubble with seahorses but I've been thinking something along those lines. Just a nice soft tank.
